This report examines a minor problem that has caused real harm at our school: the slippery floor beside the drinking fountain near the library. Between classes, crowds of students refill their bottles there, and small splashes from the spout and from wet hands land on the tiles. Since the tiles are pale and smooth, the water is nearly invisible yet dangerously slick. Over the last four weeks, the school nurse has treated four students who fell near the fountain. I identified three causes. First, the fountain lacks a basin that catches overflow. Second, nothing on the floor absorbs the splashes. Third, many students rush to the fountain the moment class ends. To fix this situation, our class council proposes three remedies: attaching a drip tray, laying a rubber mat beneath the fountain, and posting a sign that asks everyone to walk. With these changes, the tiles should stay dry, and nobody will need a bandage because of a little spilled water.
