I propose that every class at our school switch off its ceiling lamps and projector each time the classroom sits unused. First, this action takes almost no effort. The last student to leave for lunch or a gym class only needs to press two buttons by the door, which takes less than five seconds. In addition, the savings would add up over time. Our school has more than thirty classrooms, and many of them sit empty for at least an hour each day, so even a tiny change in each room could noticeably lower the school's electricity bill. Finally, the habit is easy for others to notice and copy. If one class posts a bright reminder card beside its door, students walking by will see it, and younger students may start the same practice in their own rooms. For these three reasons, I hope our council members will invite every class to try this small step for one month and then share the results.
