My table shows invented figures for video reviews in an imaginary youth volleyball league over three seasons. In the first season, teams asked for 40 reviews, and 12 of them changed the referee's decision. By the end of the third season, requests had climbed to 90, but only 18 decisions had been reversed. As a result, the share of successful reviews dropped from 30 percent to 20 percent. One likely reason is that coaches grew bolder once they had learned how the review rule worked. Because every review halts a match for about a minute, I recommend that the league limit each team to two reviews per set. I also suggest that coaches explain the limit to their players before the next season begins.
