A: Why do you think Grandpa picked birdwatching as his cover?
B: Binoculars gave him a reason to stand by the stream every morning. Nobody wonders about an old man looking at birds.
A: True. But why did Haon only wave instead of calling his name?
B: She must have guessed that he wanted to stay hidden. Calling his name would have ruined his plan.
A: So she protected his secret the same way he protected her.
B: Right. That also explains why he always came home humming.
A: Do you think he will keep watching her next year?
B: Maybe, but I hope he walks beside her sometimes instead of hiding.

At first, Grandpa's new hobby seems like a simple joke about an elderly man who suddenly loves birds. The ending, however, changes the meaning of two earlier scenes. The first is his description of the bird. Its yellow cap, its hopping, and its weekday schedule all match Haon on her way to school, so she must have been the rare bird from the very first morning. The second is his cheerful mood after each trip to the stream. Because Haon waved at the willow every day, those mornings must have been the brightest part of his week. Grandpa was so worried about her that he invented a hobby, yet the very person he was hiding from could see him all along. I admire how Haon played along for a whole month without saying a word.
