The Eagle and the Beetle were enemies, and they destroyed each other’s nests. The Eagle gave the first provocation by seizing and eating the young ones of the Beetle. The Beetle got at the Eagle’s eggs by stealth, rolled them out of the nest, and followed the Eagle even into the presence of Jupiter. When the Eagle made his complaint, Jupiter ordered him to make his nest in Jupiter’s own lap. While Jupiter had the eggs in his lap, the Beetle came flying around him, and Jupiter, rising up without thinking to drive him away from his head, threw down the eggs and broke them.

The weak often avenge themselves on those who treat them badly, even when those people are more powerful.
