Today was Taste Test Day in our school lunchroom. Our cooks made two new dishes for next month's lunch menu. Each student got a small bowl of each dish. Then we voted with green stickers on a big board by the door. The winner will be on the menu every Wednesday in May.

The first dish was Sunny Rice. It was fried rice with eggs, carrots, and green beans. It looked colorful and smelled like warm butter. To me, it looked like a little rainbow in a bowl. The second dish was Volcano Pasta. The pasta was dark red, and its sauce smelled very spicy. Spicy food is hard for me, so I planned to vote for Sunny Rice.

Then I took my first bite of each dish. Sunny Rice tasted drier than I expected, and the beans were a little bitter. The pasta was a big surprise. It tasted sweet at first and only a little spicy. It was also softer than the rice. For me, the pasta was more delicious than Sunny Rice.

My friend Yuha had the opposite opinion. She loves spicy food, but the pasta was too sweet for her. For her, Sunny Rice was much better than the pasta.

In the end, I changed my mind and voted for Volcano Pasta. After lunch, the cooks counted the stickers. Volcano Pasta won by just three votes! Next time, I will taste new food first and decide later.
