Today was the last day of the summer cooking class at our neighborhood library. For five days, ten of us met in a big room on the first floor. Our teacher showed us a new dish each day. All five dishes were new to me. Before this class, I never cooked at home.
On Monday, we made rolled omelets. I enjoyed cracking the eggs into a big bowl. However, my first omelet broke into pieces in the pan. My second one looked much better, so I took a picture of it.
On Tuesday, we made rice balls with tuna inside. My partner, Nina, liked shaping the rice into little triangles. Mine looked like round stones, but they tasted great.
Wednesday was the hardest day. We made vegetable soup, and I chopped the onions all by myself. The onions made me cry. After twenty minutes, I finally finished chopping them.
On Thursday, we made tomato pasta. I stirred the sauce while Nina boiled the pasta. Soon the whole room smelled like tomato sauce.
Today we made small pizzas for our families. After class, our parents came to the library and tried our food. My dad ate three pizzas and asked for one more.
I did not like cooking before, but now I love it. This weekend, I am going to cook Monday's dish for my family.

- chop 잘게 썰다 칼로 작게 자르다. 과거는 chopped(p 를 한 번 더 씀).
- dish 요리, 음식 한 가지로 차려 내는 음식. '접시'라는 뜻도 있다. Monday's dish = 월요일에 만든 요리.
- stir 젓다, 휘젓다 숟가락 따위로 빙빙 돌려 섞다. 과거는 stirred(r 를 한 번 더 씀).
- try (음식을) 먹어 보다, 맛보다 이 글에서는 음식을 맛보는 뜻이다. '애쓰다', try on '입어 보다'의 뜻도 있다. 과거는 tried.
- omelet 오믈렛 달걀을 풀어 팬에 얇게 부친 음식. rolled omelet = 돌돌 만 오믈렛(달걀말이). 미국식 철자는 omelet.
- onion 양파 썰 때 눈물이 나게 하는 채소.
- tuna 참치 바다에 사는 큰 물고기. 통조림으로 많이 먹는다.
