It is twelve thirty on a hot Wednesday, and I am standing in our school garden. My name is Sujin, and I am a reporter for the Garden Club.
Near the gate, two members are wearing gloves and pulling weeds. Weeds grow fast in the summer, so the club pulls them every week. Next to them, Doyun is watering the tomato plants. He can carry two full watering cans at once. The plants need plenty of water on hot days.
In the middle of the garden, the club teacher is talking to the new members. She is pointing at a pepper plant. The red peppers on this plant are ready, but the green ones need more time. Now the new members are picking the red ones.
In the shade of a big tree, Clara and her friends are making a salad. They are washing tomatoes and peppers in a bowl of cold water. Clara is also chopping carrots into small pieces. In March, she did not eat carrots at all. Then she grew her own carrots in this garden. Now she eats them almost every day. The salad will be ready in ten minutes, and everyone will enjoy a healthy meal.
The club meets twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays. After the summer vacation, we will plant cabbages in the empty rows. With a little help, anyone can grow vegetables. I will bring you more garden news soon.
