This spring, students at our school started three small hobby clubs. None of the clubs needs expensive equipment, but each one gives its members something special. Our reporters visited all three to learn what the members do.

The Origami Club meets in the art room every Tuesday after school. Its members fold squares of paper into animals, flowers, and boxes. At each meeting, Yeseul, who started the club, shows the new members a different folding pattern. "At first, I could fold only a paper airplane," said Ian, a first-year member. "Now I can make a dragon from a single sheet," he added. In May, the club gave the school library two hundred paper flowers for its reading festival.

The Bird-Watching Club meets twice a month, on Saturday mornings, at the stream behind the school. Members walk slowly and quietly along the water. They try to spot as many kinds of birds as possible and write each one down in a notebook. After every walk, the club sends parents a short report with the members' drawings. Daeho, the club leader, used to walk past the stream without looking around. "Now I notice something new every time, such as a nest in a tree or a duck with its babies," he said.

The Board Game Club meets in Room 204 every Wednesday and Friday at lunchtime. A science teacher gave the club a box of old games, and experienced members teach beginners the rules. According to Grace, a third-year member, every game teaches the players something useful. "We learn to plan ahead and to lose without getting angry," she said.

The three clubs are different, but they share one goal. Each one turns ordinary free time into a chance to make friends and learn new skills. If you want to try something different, why not visit one of them this month?
