Dear Future Me,

Nice to meet you, twenty-three-year-old me! This letter is homework for my English class. Let me tell you about my life at thirteen.

I am short, and my hair is long and curly. My friends think I am funny, but my brother thinks I am just noisy.

I like clouds more than anything. Every day, I take a photo of the sky from my room. My room is tiny, but the view from its window is wonderful. There are almost four hundred sky photos on my phone. I also like chess, and I play it with Grandpa every Sunday. He usually wins, but I learn a lot from him.

On school days, I get up at six thirty and feed my pet turtle, Dubu. Then I walk to school and always arrive ten minutes early. Before bed, I turn off my phone and read for twenty minutes.

Five people live in our apartment. Mom drives a city bus, so she leaves home before six. Dad works at home and cooks dinner every night. My brother, Taeyang, is sixteen. He teases me a lot, but he always fixes my bike. Grandpa grows tomatoes on our balcony.

I have a few questions for you. Do you still take a photo of the sky every day? Is Grandpa still the chess champion of our family? Are you a weather reporter on TV now? That is my dream. Please keep looking up at the sky.

champion 챔피언, 우승자 경기나 대회에서 일등을 한 사람. the chess champion of our family = 우리 가족 가운데 체스 일등.
curly 곱슬곱슬한 curly hair = 곱슬머리. 곧은 머리는 straight hair.
still 아직, 여전히 Do you still …? = 아직도 …하니? 형용사로 쓰면 '가만히 있는'이라는 뜻이다.
tease 놀리다 tease + 사람 = 장난으로 ~을 놀리다. 놀린다고 해서 미워하는 것은 아니다.
view 경치, 전망 the view from ~ = ~에서 보이는 경치. '의견'이라는 뜻도 있다.
